Who doesn’t like to think about all the things that make them most happy? This week I was in the mood for a silly, lighthearted post, and while I know that no one reading this has ever asked to hear about my favorite things, here you have them anyway! 🙂
____________________________________________________
- My Husband
Of course I have to start with my husband, he’s my number one favorite thing on this earth. My husband and I began dating in April of 2022. I’ve known him for over two years, been married to him for almost two years, and no matter how much time I spend with him, I always wish for more.
My husband is my favorite person, my best friend, my closest confidant, my love, and my happy, safe place. The prospect of getting to spend the rest of my life with him, to get to grow old with him, is exhilarating to me. I look forward to many more years by his side; learning, loving, and growing.
- Garlic
On to my second favorite thing, garlic! No, not nearly as meaningful or necessary to me as my husband, but it still makes me quite happy.
I love garlic. I’m not kidding when I say that I use it in just about every meal, and anytime I see a snack at the store that is garlic flavored, I get very excited. Recently I’ve taken to making my own garlic products and trying some things with garlic that I’ve never tried before. Be on the lookout, because you might be seeing a post on that in the near future.
I love garlic bread, garlic butter, garlic sauces, garlic on my pizza, garlic parmesan flavored anything, I even love just frying up garlic cloves as a side for various things. You name it, if it has garlic, I probably love it.
- Potatoes
While garlic is something I’ve come to discover my great love for in more recent times, potatoes are something I’ve always loved. Potatoes are so versatile and I love them in all their forms. They pair deliciously with other things I love like garlic, ranch, cheese, and bacon.
I love baked potatoes, scalloped potatoes, potato wedges, potato soup, mashed potatoes, french fries, cheesy potatoes, potato chips, twice baked potatoes, and loaded potato skins. Potatoes almost always make a happy, warm, comforting hug of a meal.
- Rainy Days
I seem to be in the minority in this, but I absolutely love rainy days. Where I live it has been raining a ton this spring and summer, and I have just been soaking it all in. Even when it’s been raining day after day, and everyone around me is getting sick of the dreary skies and the puddles everywhere, I just can’t get enough of it.
I love the sound of rain, I love the smell of rain, I love sleeping during a thunderstorm, I love driving during a rain shower, I love curling up in a blanket and watching the rain from my window. If I wake up in the morning and the first thing I hear is the tinkling of rain outside, I know it’s going to be a good day.
- Coffee
I’ve had coffee every morning for a long time now. It’s such a warm, comforting way to wake up each day. Given that I am not a morning person, it’s exactly the pick me up I need in the morning.
I must be honest though, I am not a hard-core coffee drinker like those individuals that actually like coffee and drink it black. I like coffee paired with large amounts of creamer. I like trying all the different flavors of creamer and each week getting to enjoy a different flavor.
I also like coffee for another reason though, it reminds me of when I used to live in my parents house and I would have morning coffee chats with my mom before the busy day got started. Coffee is comforting to me not just for its warmth and creaminess, but also because it makes me think of cozy coffee chats.
Also, the perfect dynamic duo is a warm cup of coffee on a cozy rainy day. The pairing of two of my favorite things just can’t be beat.

There are several honorable mentions to my favorite things list that I greatly deliberated on including. Also, I’ll give you a spoiler- they’re all foods. My honorable mentions are: ranch, bacon, basil, fresh mozzarella, and caramelized onions.
Perhaps I should have just summarized the majority of my favorite things into one thing: food. But oh well, I’m glad that my most favorite ingredients all got a specific mention here.
I hope that this post was enjoyable for you to read, even if it’s not the most complex thing I’ve ever written. Sometimes I just like to take a minute to think about and thank God for all the things that bring me joy in life.
What are your favorite things? Can you boil them down just to a few? I’d love to hear about all your favorite things in the comments.
